Back in business

I’m slowly getting back in business 🙂  The media pageis finally up to date. I need to archive the articles – will get at that later.  For now am catching up on missed postings of the past couple of weeks.  More to come, for now a brief  comment on each of the following :

(1) 18 March 2009: Teen dating seminar returns

Is it just me?  Am I totally out of touch?  I can tell you that I am floored.  In a community which has been rocked by allegations of clerical sex abuse for the past 16 years the diocese is putting on an overnighter for children from Grade 8 up.

I see no need for an overnighter.  None.  I truly believe that in this day and age it is foolhardy for anyone to sponsor such events let alone the Diocese of Alexandria-Cornwall.

That aside, as a point of interest, the seminarian conducting the workshop is Helen Dunlop’s nephew.  Kevin McDonald is the son of retired Cornwall Police Service Staff Inspector Stuart McDonald who testified at the Cornwall Public Inquiry 01 & 02 May 2008.  There are allegations that Stuart McDonald was seen at the home of Ken Seguin – he denies.

But, there you go.  Stuart McDonald’s son is now a seminarian, and he’ s participating in an overnighter for teens from Grade 8 up and up – only weeks after the inquiry wrapped.

I am, as I said, floored!

(2) 14 March 2009: Police force losing wealth of experience: Why are so many good officers leaving?

(i) Why no talk at the inquiry of this “long list” of “good” Cornwall Police Service officers “waiting to get out”?

(ii)  Dare I say that, for the sake of the many sex abuse victims of Cornwall who have yet to come forward, I hope and pray that it is the ‘ old guard’ who are leaving?

(3) 08 March 2009: ‘Stewards of Creation’: The Bishop of St. Paul has raised hackles by attacking oilsands development. He says it’s his moral duty to speak out

This is fascinating indeed.  Bishop Luc Bouchard,a native of Cornwall, Ontario, on the hug-a-tree enviromentalist bandwagon.

Has anyone in the Diocese of St. Paul Alberta heard Bishop Luc Bouchard speak with such certitude and passion against clerical sexual abuse?  Has anyone heard him say he feels it’s his moral duty to condemn the goings on in his native diocese of Alexandria-Cornwall?

Has anyone ever heard Bouchard passionately enlighten his flock with Church teaching on sodomy?  or homosexuality? If yes and I’ve missed it please do let me know.

Has anyone ever heard Bouchard condemn the misuse of the word  “ homophobia”?

Bouchard was ordained by Bishop Eugene Larocque.  Has anyone heard Bouchard say a boo condemning Bishop Eugene Larocque, Father Gary Ostler, Ed Lumley and Lloyd Axworthy for enabling a convicted American clerical molester (Carl Stone) to hole up in the Diocese of Alexandria-Cornwall?

Bouchard was one of many witnesses I thought the inquiry should have called if the object of the exercise was truly to find out what has been going on in Cornwall for the past forty-plus years.  He knew Father Gilles Deslaurier and worked with him on the R cubed youth program.  He attended the Cornwall Classical College – one year ahead of Jacques Leduc. He knew Father Rene Dube well enough to fly back to say Dube’s funeral Mass.

At the very least Bouchard would have information on Deslaurier and the Classical College.  He wasn’t called.

So, anyway, there he is, a Roman Catholic bishop doing politics and thumping the pulpit to save the oilsands.   Not souls.  Not childhood innocence.  The oilsands!

May God help us all if this is what the bishops of Canada have reduced themselves to

A reminder that there are others aside Ron Leroux who saw people of note at Ken Seguin’ s home.

I posted the transcript of Carol Hesse’s testimony a few weeks ago.  I failed to say at the time to check her testimony re former Chief Claude Shaver.Carol testified that she was introduced to Shaver by Ken Seguin.  At the time she had no idea who Shaver was –  Seguin in fact asked her if she was born under a rock because she didn’t know Shaver was the Chief.  She also testified that she recalls seeing Shaver and Malcolm MacDonald together in Seguin’s home.

The Chief of police and Charlie’s lawyer chitter-chattering in Ken Seguin’ s home.  Take it from there.

Enough for now,

Sylvia
