S/Sgt. Luc Brunet has been an officer with the Cornwall Police Service since 18 March 1977. It was Brunet who decided that an officer inexperienced in investigating sex abuse could take on David Silmser’s sex abuse allegations against two pillars of the Cornwall. Silmser did not want to deal with a female officer. Heidi Sebalj was assigned to the case.
Many months later, after Perry Dunlop stumbled upon and went to Children’s Aid Society regarding the allegations, Brunet accompanied then Chief Claude Shaver to see the Nuncio in Ottawa and to talk to Bishop Eugene Larocque about the sex abuse allegations against Father Charles MacDonald.
Luc Brunet testified at the Cornwall Public Inquiry 03, 04, 07, 08 and 09 April 2008
